Description, Habitat, Ecology, Distribution

Several wild rose species are found within the Hul’q’umi’num’ territory. The Nootka rose is one of our most common species, growing in a variety of generally open habitats at low to middle elevations throughout the coast. It is a shrub to 3 m (ca. 10 ft) tall with large prickles at the base of each leaf, and prickles also occurring on new growth. The flowers are pink, relatively large, and typically borne singly at the branch tips.

Cautions
