Ocean spray grows all over Vancouver Island and on parts of the adjacent mainland of British Columbia. These shrubs produce large drooping clusters of white to cream flowers that turn brown and stay on the plants all winter.

Island Cultural Role

The wood of this shrub has been used for drying and barbecuing clams and fish and to make knitting needles.
